Why they're separate
A group can be discovered. A crew can't.
The difference isn't a settings dropdown, it's how the two things are made. In a young person's crew you don't get in: you're let in, one by one, with the yes of both sets of parents. There's no list to browse, because there's no technical way to send a request to a stranger.
A group works the other way round: it appears in a list, and whoever sees it can ask to join. It's exactly the kind of openness a group of parents needs — and exactly the one we don't want for a minor. That's why groups are adults only: an adult opens them, adults join, and a young person doesn't end up in one even by accident.
What you see from outside
The list has the name. Nothing else.
Not how many people there are, not who's in it. It's the decision we care about most in this whole part, and it's worth saying why.
A group whose listing said "Manzoni School 3B — 22 parents" would hand anyone who opens the app information they shouldn't have: how many children there are in that class, in that school, in that town. A line like that isn't a graphic detail: it's a map of where children are, and we don't want to be the ones who write it.
Whoever is in the group sees the other members, as you'd expect. Whoever is outside sees a name and nothing more, and if they want to join they ask.
How to join
You ask, and someone answers
-
You find the group, or someone brings you in
Groups that aren't hidden appear in a list. Whoever opens a group can also keep it out of the list: in that case you won't find it by searching, you only get in by invitation.
-
Ask to join, with a couple of lines about yourself
With the request you write who you are. Without it, an admin would have to decide looking at a name and nothing else — and then they'd be deciding at random.
-
An admin accepts or declines
Either way the request disappears from the list. If it stayed there, the admin would see it again every time without remembering whether they'd already looked at it.
Who's in charge
Two admins at most
Whoever opens it, and whoever they choose
Whoever creates the group is an admin and can't be removed. They can appoint a second person, and that's where it stops.
Why not three or four
Because with four admins nobody feels responsible: join requests sit there for days, each one convinced someone else is dealing with them. With two, you know whose turn it is.
What they can do
Accept or decline whoever asks to join, remove someone from the group, change the name, description and picture.
How you leave
By yourself, whenever you like. You don't have to ask anyone's permission and you don't have to explain why.
To know beforehand
What groups don't do
The same applies here as to the rest of the app: the things we think you should know beforehand, not afterwards.
- They're not an official school channel. A group is opened by a person, not by an institution. Official communications keep coming from where they come from today: the school portal, the circulars, the office.
- We don't verify that whoever joins really is a parent from that class. That's decided by whoever administers the group, who knows those people. We check that they're an adult, not that they're the right parent.
- Young people don't get in, and it isn't a preference. A minor's profile can't open a group or ask to join one.
- A group is still a chat between people. If someone writes things that aren't right, the admin removes them — as in any group. No automatic filter stops an adult from writing something unkind to another adult.
If you're a school or a sports club
There's nothing to activate
There's no agreement to sign, no panel to administer, no list of pupils to hand over to us. Groups are opened by people from their own app, and the school receives no data from us and has no obligations.
If you'd like families to know, the only thing needed is to say the app exists. For any question: assistenza@krewu.it.
Questions
What people ask us about this part
Can my child see their class group?
No. Groups live in the adults-only part of the app: from a young person's profile they can't be seen, searched for or requested.
Can I keep the group out of the list?
Yes. A hidden group doesn't show up to whoever searches: you only get in if someone already inside brings you.
If I open the group, can I be removed?
No. Whoever creates the group stays an admin. They can appoint a second person, but can't be removed by them.
How many groups can I have?
There's no fixed limit. An adult can be in the class group, the team group and the course group, without one ruling out the other.

KrewU is on the stores
You start from the adult's phone. You'll find the groups in there, in your part of the app.
KrewU speaks Italian, English, French and Spanish: it picks up the phone's language by itself.
